10 Early Signs that you may be Pregnant: Quiet often, a missed period is the most common sign of a pregnancy but it is not the only one. The signs of conceiving appear during the first week of conception. You might be expecting a child and miss these signs in the excitement.

A pregnancy test is the best way to determine whether you are pregnant, however a few obvious signs can indicate pregnancy even before a missed period.

1. Spotting and Cramping:

It is quite common to have some spotting when you are nearly 6 weeks pregnant. You may also experience slight cramping when you are peeing. If you see any unusual bleeding than do not delay to visit a doctor.

2. Swollen Breasts:

Usually, swollen and tender breasts are noticeable pregnancy signs just one week before a missed period. As the oestrogen levels increase after conception, women may feel soreness and pain in the breasts.

These symptoms are however not exactly different from pre-menstrual signs that may last even after you have missed your period.

3. Feeling Sick:

Morning sickness is the most common sign of an early pregnancy.  It can start when you are 4 weeks pregnant. Vomiting and feeling of nausea are very common in pregnancies.

Due to high level of oestrogen and progesterone levels in the body you might wake up every morning and feel the urge to vomit.

You can feel sick and might vomit too, which starts in the morning and can stay through the day. Almost 80% of pregnant women are affected by nausea in the initial weeks of pregnancy.

4. Feeling Exhausted:

Any kind of changes in the level of hormones in the body can leave you tired and exhausted all the time.

Fatigue and sleepiness are sometimes the most common signs of an early pregnancy. You may feel tired even after doing a very small physical activity.

The high level of progesterone can lead to you to feel sleepy all the time and this can last throughout the pregnancy.

When your body produces more blood in order to support the growing foetus, it results in feeling exhausted. You can easily overcome this problem by incorporating nutritional diet in your lifestyle.

5. Frequent Urination:

Starting from the 6th week of pregnancy, you will feel like urinating more often. This happens because of the increased levels of pregnancy hormones and as your kidneys is working faster than normal.

6. Increased Appetite or Food Aversions:

Craving for certain kinds of food is very common sign of pregnancy which you might have heard a lot. You are more likely to have special cravings for specific food and may also go off certain flavours.

The sense to smell can change too and you may become more sensitive to food. You may feel like you cannot handle the normal food that you had been eating before getting pregnant such as your morning tea or eggs.

7. Dizziness:

This symptom is common in almost all expecting mothers. You may feel ligh headed or dizzy suddenly.

As during pregnancy, the blood vessels dilate, this causes the blood pressure to reduce which results in dizziness.

This sign may be prominent during the first trimester and will eventually go away in later phases. However, if you feel any discomfort and vaginal bleeding along with dizziness, then talk to your doctor about it.

8. Increased Body Temperature:

During pregnancy, the temperature of the body stays elevated all the time initially. As the body is getting ready to support a new life in its system, it can often lead to a high temperature.

This is a common sign and is nothing to be worried about.

9. Bloating:

Another common sign of a pregnancy is the feeling of tightness or bloating which happens because of the increased levels of progesterone.

The change in the hormone levels can affect digestion and trap gas in the intestine. You may get a protruding stomach which can cause discomfort.

Bloating can further lead to burps and farts. You can counter this issue by controlling the portions of food that you consume and going for a healthier diet.

10. Mood Swings:

You may feel angry all of sudden without any reason and then you mood can change again within few minutes. You might feel like crying over the smallest issues at times.

Change in the levels of hormones can make you feel very happy or low. This happens because of the sudden over flow of hormones in your body. The imbalance in your hormones will affect the neurotransmitters in the brain which leads to change in emotions in a rapid state.

Do not worry about the mood swings because they are very common in pregnancies and will go away soon. Try to relax and take as much rest as possible.

Other Common Signs:

  • The increased levels of the progesterone hormone leads to constipation and you may find difficult y in releasing the bowel. If you have been constipated over a week after you missed your period, then take a pregnancy test.
  • The imbalance in the hormones can cause a dip in the sugar levels which leads to headache.
  • Again because if the hormones become irregular, you may feel an awkward metallic taste in your mouth. This unusual taste can be an early sign of pregnancy.
  • Well, if you are pregnant, you may feel like drinking litres of water throughout the day. An increased blood volume can make you excessively thirsty.
  • Hot flushes can also be an early indication of a pregnancy.
  • As the body requires more oxygen and blood for two lives, you may feel shortness in the breath initially.
  • A rare sign of pregnancy is the production of excess saliva just before you miss your period. This condition is related to nausea as extra liquid build up in the mouth can lead to drooling.
